Dear Jeremy Corbyn
Your friends in Hamas have been busy again. Last week they claimed responsibility for a terror attack in Tel Aviv which resulted in the callous murder of four Israelis and the wounding of another sixteen innocent people, as families, couples and friends sat drinking and eating in a popular Covent Garden like enclave of Tel Aviv, called Sarona Market.
Yep, a couple of your mates, two young cousins, aged 20 and 21; even dressed for the occasion. People suggest they were going for the smart religious Jew look however, one might wonder if amongst the incessant prayer, military training, extremist brainwashing, incitement to hatred and murder, these two young guys, had not managed to find time to binge on a Tarantino retrospective wanting, as one might expect of the young, to put a modern twist and add some style to the tired old terrorist format. Inspired by the stylised version of murder and mayhem perhaps, all that was left was to decide who would be Mr Pink and who Mr Brown.
So they sat down in a restaurant full of men woman and children, ordered a cold beverage and a dessert and then drew their guns, perhaps they even had a Stealers Wheel soundtrack playing in their heads, for sure not very Islamic, but very cool, don’t you think. They then stood set about shooting innocents at point blank range, quite similar I suppose to the gun attacks in Paris. The aftermath of the horror was there for all to see. The upturned tables and chairs, the uneaten meals, the clearly shocked and terrified people wandering aimlessly in the aftermath as the security and rescue services arrived on the scene and of course the blood.
The four dead Israelis are Ido Ben Ari, 42, who was eating supper with his wife and two children in a café. His wife is among the injured; Michael Fiege 58, a prominent academic, Ilana Naveh 39 who leaves behind her husband and four children and Mila Mishaev 32, survived by her parents, two bothers and a sister. She was due to be married in the coming months. Another sixteen innocent Israelis were wounded, with several still in hospital fighting for their lives.
Your two young friends from Hamas were “neutralised” by Israeli security personnel, although apparently both survived, where one received life- saving surgery from Israeli medical staff at Ichilov hospital. Oh the irony, don’t you think.
Now to top this off, your friends at Hamas were highly satisfied and proud indeed of their two young prodigies, so much so in fact that they just had to celebrate the murder of innocents in cafes and restaurants. They set of fireworks in celebration and handed out sweets in Gaza. Sweets were also handed out in Ramallah and in Nablus, where there was dancing, yes dancing. What a great start to the Muslim festival of Ramadan, fasting by day the fireworks, sweets, dancing and murder by night. Tell me Jeremy, what kind of society celebrates wanton terror and the slaughter of innocents?
I wonder if perhaps a part of yourself wasn’t dancing that night in solidarity with you friends. Perhaps you and your friends passed round the after-eights, or perhaps you are more of a wine gums or fruit pastels, kind of guy?
One thing is for sure, you who consciously choose to call Hamas your friends, who seek to lend this evil terrorist group even a modicum of legitimacy are every bit as guilty of terror, of murder and of incitement as the organisation itself and those who carry out its murderous acts. You apologists for terror who willingly rationalise the murder and slaughter of Jews just because they are Jews must be seen for what you are, hypocrites and anti-Semites.
You feign interest in and support for the welfare of the Palestinians yet you refuse to condemn Hamas and Hezbollah, indeed you choose to call then your friends, those same organisations who continue to persecute, imprison, torture, rape, murder and slaughter innocent Palestinians.
Only last month, Hamas publicly executed a number of Palestinians. These executions were even condemned by the Palestinian Authority. Hezbollah continue assist the Assad regime and their Iranian masters in the slaughter of innocents in Syria among them thousands of Palestinians. Didn’t you work for the Iranian regime’s mouth piece and propaganda machine, Press TV?
And still you refuse to call Hamas and Hezbollah for what they are. You practically embrace their death cult. You refuse to condemn your friends, which one can only take to mean that you continue to support their actions and indeed their goal, the destruction of the state of Israel and the “killing of Jews wherever they might be”… read the Hamas charter… not to mention the continued oppression of their own people.
Your friends at Hamas have been busy, with your support and I expect will continue on their murderous path. But we will face them and we will prevail. Hard as it is and as much as it hurts, we will bury our dead and we will be strong. We will continue our struggle to build a free, just, life loving, vibrant democracy in the middle-east.
Many of us, the vast majority in fact; will also fight to establish an equitable and lasting peace with our neighbours, the Palestinians, but if you will forgive us Jeremy, one which does not involve our own destruction. Often, and particularly at the moment, that will involve fighting the policies of our own government. But you see Jeremy, we can do that, as we live in a true democracy, however imperfect.
Jeremy, you can tell a great deal about a person by the friends they keep. Need I say more?
