The Real Monster in The Travesty That is Gaza - Hamas & its Cynical Exploitation & Sacrifice of Ordinary Gazans

Over the past week, I have read a number of articles regarding recent events in Gaza, some written by people for whom I have great respect. I am increasingly frustrated however at the ease with which the supposedly intelligent and “impartial” are prepared to swallow the Hamas and Palestinian propaganda machine’s lies and manipulations.
Of course this is not new but one might expect people to learn from past experience. Perhaps it is just the fact that the Jewish State is easy prey in the “liberal” media or that so called journalists and people in general are just too lazy or too cowardly to acknowledge and tackle the real horror of the events of this past week / month, the fact that Hamas, buy its own admission is willing, indeed keen to sacrifice its women and children to their warped, perverted and murderous ideology.
For Hamas dead or wounded Palestinian women and children are viewed as media assets, to be encouraged and promoted in the knowledge that the international media will swallow it whole, no questions asked. Palestinian men, women and children are and have been victims of the brutal terror regime of Hamas for over a decade now, where rather than call Hamas to account and save the Palestinians from this murderous regime, the international media and NGOs prefer to appease and pander to them, in the process, condemning the people of Gaza to more murder mayhem, death and destruction.
Let’s get one thing out the way. By its own admission, of the 60 killed on May 14th, it turns out that over 50 were Hamas fighters and another three were claimed by Islamic Jihad as there “operatives”. All fifty three were killed by Israel snipers, as they cynically used the cover of women and children, as they attempted to breach the Israeli border fence with the sole intent of kidnapping and slaughtering, innocent Israelis.
The fact that over 80% of those killed were confirmed as active terrorists, is a testament to the professionalism along with the precise and targeted nature of the IDF’s defence of Israel’s borders and its civilian population.
In what where almost impossible circumstances with 40,000 “demonstrators” attempting to breach the border fence in multiple locations with armed terrorists using women and children as human shields, smoke, fire, chaos and mayhem, wilfully organised and executed by Hamas, the IDF demonstrated huge restraint and a determination to target armed terrorists and avoid if at all possible, innocent casualties.
Indeed Hamas itself acknowledges what the international press refuses to, as they instruct their people to use women and children to hide behind, as they are all too aware that the IDF goes out of its way to avoid hitting innocents. When put into perspective the Israeli response was remarkable in both its ability to stop the breaching of the fence and in minimising deaths among the demonstrators.
The attempt by the international press and the UN to paint this as a massacre of innocents is wholly disingenuous, ignores the facts on the ground and only serves to encourage Hamas to keep sacrificing innocents for the sake of media attention and UN resolutions.
For far too long now the international press, NGOs, certain governments and the UN have pandered to Hamas’ murderous regime which only condemns the people of Gaza to continued suffering at their hands.
Israel left Gaza 12 years ago, leaving three thousand greenhouses and agricultural infrastructure for the Palestinians to create jobs in the newly independent strip. There were open borders and the free movement of goods. There was an airport, with daily flights to Jordan and Egypt on a Palestinian airline.
Rather than take advantage of this new reality for the betterment of its people, Hamas chose to destroy the greenhouses and instead of a burgeoning economy and civil society built a terror infrastructure with which to attack Israel. The border was only closed and goods restricted after thousands of rockets were fired at Israel and materials were being imported to build attack tunnels and manufacture missiles.
The Palestinians are the most subsidised people in the world, with Gaza receiving over $16 billion in aid in recent years, with next to no oversight, where little or none went to the people, rather to the terrorists and the corrupt leaders of Hamas. No hospitals, schools, community centres, no education health or welfare, only more attack tunnels, weapons and missile factories, oh and of course, luxury villas for the great and the good of Hamas and its allies.
Israel is far from perfect and indeed the current government deserves a great deal of criticism for many errant and ill-advised policies and actions.
However, when it comes to defending its border and protecting its civilians, the Israeli government has the grave responsibility, indeed the obligation to make sure that they do so to maximum effect.
This past week, despite the impossible situation created by a cynical and callous regime in Gaza, looking to sacrifice its civilian population, men, women and children, to score points with a compliant media, the IDF defended its borders effectively and made valiant efforts to minimise casualties amongst those seeking its destruction, Rather than be condemned, Israel should be commended.
The past week has demonstrated once more who the real monster is in the travesty that is Gaza. Only when the world and in particular, the international media, decides to say “no more” to Hamas, only when the UN tells Hamas in no uncertain terms that their actions negate any legitimacy to rule in Gaza, only when the people of Gaza are freed from the yoke of evil and oppression of Hamas, can Palestinians finally find some hope for peace and a better future.
Until the world puts an end to the Hamas rule in Gaza, Israel will continue to do whatever is necessary to defend itself and its civilian population, as it must. In the meantime, the people of Gaza will continue to pay the price of the world’s ongoing appeasement and pandering to those who oppress, torture and murder their own people, the people of Gaza, while holding them to ransom in the knowledge that the international community will look the other way.
